The USS Cuchulain Photography Club
The U.S.S. CuChulain is not just a crew that love and admire the Star Trek Franchise, but it is a diverse crew including, and inclusive of, people from all walks of life and all ages. When you join the crew of the U.S.S CuChulain you are not just joining a club but you are becoming the newest member of the family. The members of this crew are there for each other through thick and thin. As a member of the crew I specially got to see how united they are during the recent pandemic with all of us forced to remain in our homes under global lockdown. Members still remained in contact through weekly zoom parties created by Anne Grace, who was determined to keep the crew’s spirits up, through her group called Q Forward. Membership doesn’t just mean you enjoy chatting and sharing information through social media about Star Trek but you also have great social events in person, as you can attend at least three parties a year as well be a volunteer on the Bridge at larger events like Dublin ComiCon. The crew also arranges airsoft events and days out, with the most recent one being hosted by staff member of EPIC diaspora museum, Feargus McDonnell, who just happens to be a devoted member of the CuChulain crew. The crew also attend Star Trek Destination in the UK, every time it’s held. As a member I wanted to be someone who could contribute to the ship in some way and so I have a great passion for three things, the ocean, dogs and photography. The latter was the obvious choice, as a result I created the photography club which started with photo competitions, however I wanted to do something more inclusive as not everyone is a photographer and so I moved to cosplay shoots with members. I have done a various shoots with members who love to dress in their Star Trek uniforms, however my shoots also include all kinds of cosplay such as Marvel, Disney, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars and vintage shoots such as WWII re enactment just about any kind of cosplay any member might like to do. I offer these shoots on a voluntary basis to anyone who is a member of U.S.S. CuChulain.
